Item # MLG, Magnetic Liquid Level Gauges

In certain operational situations, it's simply too difficult to accommodate glass equipment. Whether an application requires ease of maintenance, particularly high pressures, or straightforward reliability — or involves a hazardous environment — magnetic liquid level gauges serve as an ideal alternative to glass for local process observation.

Efficient fluid management is critical for operations in wastewater treatment, cosmetics, food and beverage, and countless other industries. In addition to armored gauges, sight glasses, sight flow indicators, and a full range of custom glass products, Papailias Inc. provides high-quality magnetic liquid level gauges to help engineers and manufacturers easily monitor every aspect of system flow.

Magnetic Liquid Level Gauges from Papailias Inc.

Much like their glass counterparts, our magnetic liquid level gauges are designed to aid in direct, real-time, on-the-spot liquid level monitoring in tanks, pressure vessels, reservoirs, and pipelines in industries such as energy and chemical manufacturing.

However, magnetic level indicators offer a distinct advantage over more traditional devices: they don't require the use of glass components. Made up of a gauge housing chamber, magnetic float, and magnetic flag assembly, these tools can be mounted locally without the risk of breaking in high-pressure or dangerous situations.

The magnetic power of these indicators also eliminates the risk of shattering, chemical spills, leaking seals, clouded gases or fluids, cloudy readings, cracked tubing, and overall gauge failure — all of which are possible with more traditional methods of level monitoring.

Product Features

Radially positioned magnets in our magnetic level gauges provide a 360° magnetic flux field, allowing for easy liquid level monitoring without the use of glass or the risk of fluid contamination from contents. Each float is internally weighted based on specific gravity so that the liquid level in the gauge coincides with the location of the magnets inside the float.

Attached to the gauge housing chamber is the magnetic flag assembly. This is the visual means of liquid level indication for the Magnetic Gauge. The assembly is made up of a series of bi-colored fluorescent flags. As the magnetic float rises and falls with the liquid level in the gauge housing chamber, a magnet embedded in each flag reacts to the 360 degree magnetic flux of the float. This magnetic interaction causes each flag to rotate 180 degrees. The flags below the magnetic flux of the float will flip to fluorescent green, while those flags above the float level remain bright white.

When your priorities are safety, visibility and accuracy, our magnetic liquid level gauges are low-maintenance, cost-effective solutions.

Benefits of Magnetic Level Gauges

Much like its glass counterparts, magnetic liquid level gauges are designed to aid in direct, real-time, on-the-spot liquid level monitoring in tanks, pressure vessels, reservoirs, and pipelines in industries such as energy and chemical manufacturing.

Common Magnetic Liquid Level Gauge Applications

Offering easy-access cleaning, very minimal maintenance requirements, and highly adaptive mounting, magnetic level indicators are among the most versatile sight level gauges available. Easily tolerating extreme process conditions with little risk, these gauges are specially designed to maintain the same pressures and temperatures as the tanks being monitored.

The gauge housing chamber can be easily mounted adjacent to the vessel, and offers a cost-effective solution for system monitoring, ensuring high visibility, accuracy, and safety. Reliable and high-performing, magnetic liquid level gauges are especially well-suited to applications such as:

  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Chemical and other flammable lines in industrial plants
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing systems
  • High-temperature and high-flame environments
  • Biogas plants
  • Power generation
  • Oil and natural gas drilling and storage
